Eglise Saint-Denis

Presentation

The Church of Saint Denis was built in the 16th century. It is in the late Gothic style. It has a Renaissance tower that is 42 metres high.

The church's buttresses conceal workrooms. These were small workshops built into the very walls of the church. Since 1499, saddlers, tailors, coppersmiths, bakers, ironmongers, shoemakers, notaries, goldsmiths, glassmakers and master glaziers have taken turns working in the 23 built-in niches. Four of these are still standing, nestled between the buttresses of the tower.
