Presentation

There's no rose without a thorn!

Legend has it that the statue of the Madonna and Child was found in the year 1400 by shepherds in a burning thorn bush. This miracle led to the construction of this cathedral-sized basilica to protect it.

A comprehensive illustration of Gothic art and lace-like stonework: its satirical gargoyles, sculpted portals and asymmetrical spires are sure to pique your curiosity!

This popular pilgrimage site since the 15th century features on the route to Santiago de Compostela, and as such it has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.

Highlight:
Beneath its organ, a 26 m-deep well is said to have produced miraculous water that had the power to make women fertile.
